    Abstract:
    对滇东曲靖地区晚志留世(Ludlow晚期一Prodoli早期)四射珊瑚群详细研究并对某些珊瑚属种作了修订。文中特别对关底组和妙高组的珊瑚群特征及其分布加以论述。滇东曲靖地区晚志留世四射珊瑚共有22属,44种(包括关底组、妙高组与玉龙寺组产的珊瑚)。其中泡沫珊瑚类Holmophyllum,Cystiphyllum和Ketophyllum占优势,其次是柱珊瑚类Kyphophyllum,Micula和Pilophyllum等属,而扭心珊瑚类代表很少,仅有Brachyelasma,Rukhinia和Phaulactis属首次发现在滇东晚志留世地层中。滇东曲靖地区晚志留世四射珊瑚群与西秦岭同期四射珊瑚有密切联系,同时,与乌拉尔(Ural)同期珊瑚群也有些相似。文中共描述四射珊瑚17属,23种,其中3新种,即Cystiphyllum minutum sp.nov.,Ketophyllum qujingense sp.nov.,Phaulactis vesicularis sp.nov.。

    Abstract:
    From September to October in 2000, a fieldwork was carried out for more than one month at several sections, such as Ercaicun and Mafangcun sections in Haikou town, Kunming city, Maotianshan, Ma'anshan and Xiaolantian sections in Chengjiang County, Yunnan Province. During the fieldwork, some new specimens were collected. Among them, three specimens are found separately to be rare arthropods Pisinnocaris sp., Tanglangia longicaudata Luo et Hu, 1999 and Pygmaclypeatus daziensis Zhang, Han et Shu, 2000 reported recently from the Chengjiang Fauna. All materials belong to the Eoredlichia-Wutingaspis Zone of Yu'anshan Member, Heilingpu Formation, Qiongzhusi Stage, Lower Cambrian(Luo et al., 1994). They provide some additional information on their morphology. Systematic description and brief discussion are given as follows.

    Abstract:
    Parahorologinella, as a new genus, is proposed for accepting a kind of palynomorphs found from the Denglouku Formation revealed by the boreholes Yu-302 and Yu-102 drilling in Yushu, southeastern Songliao Basin. The associated pollen and spores have been collectively named the Cicatricosisporites exilis-Hymenozonotriletes mesozoicus Assemblage which is considered to be the Albian representative of the Cretaceous sequence of North China palynoflora (Li and Liu, 1994). Lithologically the Denglouku Formation distributed in Songliao Basin is divided into 4 members. According to Gao et al. (1994), a palynological sequence including 3 assemblages from the formation may be recognized, namely, in ascending order, the Berremian-Early Aptian Cyathidites-Leiotriletes-Clavatipollenites assemblage from the members 1 and 2, the Aptian Cicatricosisporites-Leiotriletes-Polyporites assemblage from the third and the Early Albian Leiotriletes-Schizaeoisporites assemblage from the upper one. In this sequence, the first appearance of the angiosperm pollen Polyporites Mtchedlishvili is in the Member 3 (Gao et al., 1994) and the dinoflagellate cyst Vesperopsis zhaodongensis Qiao, He et Gao was found from the Member 4 (Gao et al., 1992). Significantly, these pollen (Pl.I, fig.11) and cyst (Pl.I, fig.12) are also encountered in the boreholes Yu-302 and Yu-102 together with the Parahorologinella grains. Based on the lithostratigraphical correlation and palynological comparison, the strata encountered in the holes includes only the Members 2 and 3 of the Denglouku Formation and may refers to Early to Middle Albian rather than pre-Albian in age. The palynomorph Parahorologinella only occurs in Member 3.

    Abstract:
    The age of the Upper Yunshan Formation of the Longzhaogou Group, Yunshan area of easthern Heilongjiang Province, was considered to be Upper Jurassic by earlier authors ( Li and Yuan ,1991; Li, 1996; Yu and Zhu,1983). Recently some scientists from Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, the Chinese Academy of Science have done much field-work there and got some gastropod specimens from the upper part of the Dajiashan Formation in the Dajiashan area of easthern Heilongjiang Province. The gastropod fossils described in this paper were collected from the Yunshan Formation and Dajiashan areas of easthern Heilongjiang. The fauna consists of 7 species in 4 genera. The specimens from the Yunshan Formation described in this paper are picked out from an old collection of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, the Chinese Academy of Science,Nanjing.

    Abstract:
    The Arpishmebulaq Formation is exposed at the eastern South Tianshan of Xinjiang and was originally proposed by E. Norin (1937, 1941), a Swedish geologist. It consists mainly of limestones and shales with a thickness about 400 m and yields abundant corals, brachipods, ostracods, stromatoporoids and conodonts. Norin subdivided it into 6 divisions (A, B, C, D, E, F).

    Abstract:
    淮南地区新元古代九里桥组主要由砂质和泥质灰岩、叠层石灰岩以及白云质灰岩组成,含有著名的“淮南生物群”的重要分子。研究采用浸解法在该组碳酸盐岩中发现了大量的疑源类化石,它们以球形亚类为主,在组合面貌上继承了其下伏刘老碑组的疑源类组合特征。但化石个体较大,多细胞植物碎片含量明显增加,化石在不同层位的分布不均匀是九里桥组疑源类组合的显著特征。另外在该组中还发现了一些新的疑源类化石如:Bailikania diligena,?Lomentunella vagtinata Hermann。文中还对九里桥组的凝源类组合与宏体化石、叠层石礁体的发育之间的关系等进行了探讨。

    Huangjiawan mammalian fauna including twenty four species was discovered from Zhenan, Shaanxi Province. All the fossils were in a fluvial deposit. Mammals of the fauna are listed as follows: Canis variabilis, Hyaenidae gen. et sp. indet., Homotherium sp., Megantereon sp., Lynx cf. shansius, Panthera pardus, Elephantidae gen. et sp. indet., Equus qingyangensis, Hesperotherium sinense, Ancylotherium sp., Megatapirus augustus, Rhinocerotidae gen. et sp. indet., Dicerorhinus lantianensis, Sus sp., Moschus moschiferus, Cervus unicolor, Cervus sp.1, Cervus sp.2, Hydropotes sp., Capreolus sp., Strepsiceros annectens, Leptobos sp., Bubalus sp. and Budorcas taxicolor.

    Abstract:
    The Zhepure Formation of Gamba stands for the youngest marine sediments in southern Xizang(Tibet). Nine samples containing ostrocods were collected for this study from the upper sand-shale member of the Zhepure Formatiom in Zongpuxi section, Gamba county of southern Tibet. Two Ostracod assemblages are recognized (in ascending order): 1. Paracypris mayaensis sp. nov.-Bairdia zongpuxiensis sp. nov. assemblage, 2. Phlyctenophora zongpuensis-Semicytherura subsymmetros assemblage. The second assemblage is dated as late Lutetian to early Priabonian of Eocene. It indicates that the sea water did not withdraw from the southern Tibet until early Priabonian. Six species, including 2 new species, have been described and illustrated in this paper.

    Abstract:
    The Niutitang Formation of Lower Cambrian located at Heishapo of Zhongnan Village, Songlin Town, Zunyi County, Guizhou, South China yields the Niutitang Biota(Zhao Yuanlong et al., 1999; Steiner et al., 2001). It was preserved in black mudstone of the Niutitang Formation. After weathering,the exposed black mudstones become white-gray shales or mudstones. The Niutitang Biota was composed of over 23 genera belonging to 7 phyla as well as some problematic taxa. Because these fossils occur in both upper and lower parts of the Niutitang Formation, the Biota was divided to Upper and Lower Biota(Zhao Yuanlong et al., 1999; Steiner et al., 2001; Yang Xinglian et al., 2000, 2003). The main groups of fossils are sponges and arthropods(Zhao Yuanlong et al., 2002). Trilobite is rich in specimens ,but very rare in species. Recently, some genera and species have been found at the middle and lower parts of the Niutitang Formation. The occurrence of theses taxa from the Niutitang Biota is quite significant. They not only provide new information about palaeogeographical distribution of trilobite, but also enrich the composition in the Niutitang Biota.

    Abstract:
    A complete carapace fossil has not ever been found since the Dictyella genus was first established in 1933 by T.Kobayashi. The recent discovery of Dictyelll longispina Zhou complete carapace and its external mold and internal mold of pygidium at Gule, Jingxi of Guangxi is significant to its classification. According to its facial sutures (isoteliform sutures) and glabella and pygidium characteristics, it is more appropriate to put Dictyella in Isotelinae, Asaphidae, Asaphacea.

    Abstract:
    Omeipsis is an endemic trilobite genus typical of the Ordovician Yangtze Block. It occurs only rarely in the Arenig of the Ordovician in association with inner shelf clastic facies. The genus was erected by Kobayashi (1951) on the basis of Acidaspis huangi Sun, 1931. Since then, only one more species, O. zhenxiongensis Luo, has further been referred to it.

    皖南地区震旦系蓝田组是新元古代冰期后形成的岩石地层,它的中下段以黑色页岩沉积为主,上段为白云质灰岩。黑色页岩段的分析结果表明:底部有机碳同位素数值较低(8^13Corg平均值为-31.9‰),总有机碳(TOC)和总有机氮(TON)含量处于较低值;在底部之上,有机碳同位素数值缓慢升高(从靠近底部的-32.6‰升至顶部的-28.3‰),而TOC和TON含量分别可达17.7%和2.7‰。这一分析结果应归于冰后期在缺氧条件下大量有机质埋藏所致。可以推测,这种变化从一个侧面反映了新元古代全球性大冰期结束后气候变化和生物演化规律:冰期结束之后,海洋中的低等浮游藻类的底栖藻类在温暖气候条件下得以繁盛,伴随着这些还原性有机碳的沉积并大量进入岩石圈中,藻类光合作用产生的氧气进入大气圈,可能正是由于有机碳的沉积导致的氧气含量升高促使了真核多细胞生物在此之后得到了大发展。蓝田组上段白云质灰岩分析结果表明:有机碳同位素和无机碳同位素分别呈现出较强的负漂移(8^13Corg:-26.8‰— -35.3‰;8^13Ccarb:-8.5‰— -10.2‰),而总有机碳(TOC)含量呈现明显降低趋势。这一变化趋势可能主要归之于沉积有机质的氧化作用。可以推测,随着新元古代全球性大冰期结束后气候变暖,海洋藻类大量繁殖,藻类的光合作用产生大量的O2,海水中O2/CO2比值上升,海洋沉积环境由缺氧逐渐向富氧条件转化。

    Abstract:
    Sampling biases have been recently recognized by many palaeobiologists as the pitfalls of under-sampled intervals and diversity data, therefore have become a major problem in analyzing diversity patterns during the earth history. In this paper we introduced and reviewed some biases in measuring biodiversities from fossil records using the Ordovician database of marine fossils and the Permian brachiopod database in the Asian-Western Pacific region as examples. The simplest method to count the number of taxa to measure the biodiversity may produce significant biases to distort the diversity pattern due to the different preservation and sampling intensities of various fossils. Palaeobiological biodiversity curves mostly should be corrected using rarefaction when taxonomic lists or occurrences of fossils are available. Most metrics or methods are worth applying although no perfect one removing biases is available yet.

    Abstract:
    The genus Yangtzedonta Yu,1985 have not been accepted by bivalve specialists as a bivalve as Yu originally reported in studying early phylogeny and evolution of the class Bivalvia. Recently, Qian Yi(2001) solved this puzzle. He confirms that Y.primitiva Yu is only an incomplete specimen of Xianfengella prima He et Yang, a problematical small shelly fossil. It is a pity that Qian confused Xianfengoconcha elliptica Zhang with the oldest certain bivalve. It is necessary to review comprehensively the study of Cambrian bivalves in China. Xiangfengoconcha Zhang,1980 shows an elongate, weakly inclined anterior and posterior toothlike structure on each side of the beak. This is an obolellid-type hinge structure rather than the bivalve palaeoheterodont type. Moreover lamellar teeth of palaeoheterodonts were derived from the fusion of discrete teeth of palaeotaxodont type. Therefore, it is unlikely that the most primitive bivalve was such a form with lamellar teeth as Xianfengoconcha elliptica Zhang. At present, Pojetaia Jell, 1980 is the only undoubted Cambrian bivalve in China.
