During field studies of the Devonian biostratigraphy in the summers of 1984 and 1985, some silicified woods of Callixylon were discovered for the first time by the author from the Hongguleleng Formation (Late Devonian) in the northwestern border area of the Junggar (Dzungaria) Basin, Xinjiang (Sinkiang), which have been briefly reported (Cai, 1987). Here illustrated and described are two species, from our collection, namely, Callixylon of. clevelandensis Chitaley and Callixylon newberryi (Dawson) Elkins et Wieland.
